How to remove the background from a photo

Is my photo uploaded?

No. The AI model downloads to your browser once and runs there. Your photo is processed in memory on your device and never sent anywhere.

What kind of photos work best?

One clear subject that stands out from the background: a person, a pet, a product on a table. Busy scenes, several overlapping subjects and very fine hair are harder; the Edge slider helps tidy the outline.

Why is the first run slower?

The first time, your browser fetches the runtime and the model, about 16 MB before compression. After that they are cached, and the tool works offline.

Which model does it use?

U²-Net (the compact u2netp version) by Xuebin Qin and colleagues, an open model under the Apache 2.0 licence, run with ONNX Runtime Web.
