    Why does my transparent PNG get a white background as JPG?

    JPG has no transparency, so transparent areas are filled with white. Choose PNG or WebP to keep them.

    Why is AVIF missing from the list?

    AVIF is only offered when your browser can encode it. If it is missing, use JPG, PNG or WebP.

    Can it open HEIC photos from an iPhone?

    Only if your browser can read HEIC, and many cannot. If a file fails, use the HEIC to JPG tool, which converts it in your browser.
