Questions

Which sizes do I need?

A favicon.ico with 16, 32 and 48 pixel images covers browser tabs and Windows. Add the 180 pixel Apple touch icon for iPhone and iPad home screens, and 192 and 512 pixel PNGs if your site has a web app manifest. The ZIP has all of them.

Why does my logo look blurry at 16 pixels?

Fine detail cannot survive at 16 × 16. Use a simple mark or one or two letters with strong contrast; the previews show how it will look in a tab.

Where do I put the files?

Upload them to your site’s root folder and paste the HTML lines into the head of your pages. Browsers also look for /favicon.ico on their own.

Is my image uploaded?

No. The icons are made by your browser. Nothing leaves your device.
