How are words per minute counted?
Every five characters typed, including spaces, count as one word, the usual convention for typing tests. The main figure counts only characters typed correctly; the gross figure counts every character.
Why is my speed different on other tests?
Tests differ in their texts, their length and whether mistakes are subtracted. This one counts only correct characters in its main figure, so it can read lower than a test that shows gross speed.
Can I take it on a phone or tablet?
Yes. Tap the text to bring up the keyboard. Autocorrect is turned off for the test box, but some phone keyboards still change words, which shows up as mistakes.
Is what I type sent anywhere?
No. The test runs in the page and nothing you type is recorded or sent.
