Questions
How is unit price worked out?
Divide the price by the quantity in one standard unit. 2.40 for 500 g is 2.40 ÷ 0.5 kg = 4.80 per kg, or 0.48 per 100 g.
Can I compare grams with litres?
No. Weight and volume do not convert into each other without knowing the density, so compare products in the same kind of unit: weight with weight, volume with volume, or count with count.
Which conversions does it use?
One ounce is 28.349523125 g, one pound is 453.59237 g, one US fluid ounce is 29.5735295625 ml and one US gallon is 3.785411784 L. These are the standard definitions.
Is the bigger pack always cheaper per unit?
No. A larger pack can cost more per gram than a smaller one, so compare unit prices rather than shelf prices.
