How to format and check JSON

  1. Paste your JSON into the box.
  2. Choose Format or Minify, and the indent you want.

Questions

What does Repair change?

It removes // and /* */ comments, and commas placed directly before a closing } or ]. Text inside quotes is never changed. The JSON is then checked again, so anything else still shows as an error.

Why do the line and column matter?

The browser reports the point where its parser stopped. The caret under the line marks that character, and the mistake is often just before it.

Does formatting change my numbers?

JavaScript stores numbers as 64-bit floats, so a number with more than about 15 significant digits can lose precision. Keep such values as strings in the JSON.

Is my JSON sent anywhere?

No. It is parsed in your browser and nothing is stored.
