Questions
How do I turn minutes into decimal hours?
Divide the minutes by 60 and add them to the hours. 7 hours 30 minutes is 7.5 hours, 7 hours 15 minutes is 7.25, and 6 minutes is 0.1 hours.
How does an overnight shift work?
If the end time is earlier than the start time, the shift is counted as ending the next day. 22:00 to 06:30 is 8 hours 30 minutes, and a 30-minute break leaves 8:00.
Does a break count as worked time?
No. Each break in minutes is taken off its shift. If a break is longer than the shift, that row is flagged and left out of the total.
Is the pay figure exact?
It is the decimal hours times the hourly rate, rounded to the cent. Overtime rules, tax and deductions are not included, since they vary by employer and place.
