Questions
Why does my browser ask for permission?
Browsers do not give a page the camera without asking. This page starts the camera only after you press Start, and it stops when you press Stop or leave the page. If you clicked Block by mistake, click the camera icon in the address bar, allow it and press Start again.
The picture is black or the camera says it is busy. Why?
Another app is probably holding the camera. Video calls such as Zoom, Teams or Discord, and other browser tabs, can keep it locked. Close them and press Start again. Some laptops also have a privacy shutter or a switch that blocks the camera.
Why is the measured frame rate lower than the reported one?
The reported rate is what the camera says it can do. The measured rate counts the frames that actually reached this page in one second. Low light, a busy computer or a slow USB connection can make the measured number drop.
Is my video recorded or sent anywhere?
No. The picture stays on your screen and nothing is stored or uploaded. A snapshot is saved to your downloads only when you press Take snapshot. Pressing Stop or leaving the page ends the camera.
