Questions
Why can I hear sound from only one side?
Check the balance control in your system sound settings, and that the cable or Bluetooth link is firm. Then press Left and Right again. If the same side is silent every time, the cable or that speaker is the likely fault.
I cannot hear the top or bottom of the sweep. Is it broken?
Probably not. Most adults cannot hear tones close to 20 kHz, and small speakers cannot reproduce very low tones. Silence at the ends of the sweep is normal.
Why do I have to press a button before any sound plays?
Browsers block sound until you interact with a page, so sites cannot play audio without asking. Your first press starts the sound engine.
Does this test use sound files?
No. Every tone is generated live in your browser with the Web Audio API. Nothing is downloaded or uploaded.
