Questions

What do the regex groups do?

With Regex on, parentheses capture part of a match, and the Replace box refers to each capture as $1, $2 and so on. With Find set to (\w+)@(\w+) and Replace set to $2 at $1, the text name@site becomes site at name. $& stands for the whole match.

What does Whole word do?

The match must not sit inside a longer word, so cat does not match inside category. Letters and digits from any alphabet count as word characters, so caf does not match inside café.

What do \n and \t do in Replace?

With Read \n and \t in Replace on, \n inserts a line break and \t inserts a tab. Write \\ for one backslash. Turn the option off to keep backslashes exactly as typed. To find a line break, turn Regex on and type \n in Find.

Is my text sent anywhere?

No. Matching and replacing run in your browser, and nothing is stored.
